The researcher of the Translational Research Group in Tumour Microenvironment at the Hospital del Mar Research Institute, Dr. Jenniffer Linares, has received one of the Novel Talent Awards, awarded by the Chair of Immunology of the University Francisco de Victoria (UFV), in collaboration with the science and technology company MERCK. The awards ceremony was held in Madrid on 25 October.
These awards, which are part of the Activities Plan of the UFV-Merck Chair of Immunology, recognise the best clinical and scientific contributions made in the field of cancer immunology research over the course of a year. It is awarded to researchers under 40 years of age who are working in public and private research centres in Spain.
Dr Linares was awarded the prize for the best publication in clinical immunology in 2022. It is the work Targeted immunotherapy against distinct cancer-associated fibroblasts overcomes treatment resistance in refractory HER2+ breast tumours, published in Nature Communications.
The other awards went to Dr. Enrique Javier Arenas of the Vall d'Hebron Institute of Oncology, for the best publication in basic immunology in 2021, and to Dr. Diego Sánchez, of the Josep Carreras Research Institute-Campus Clínic, for the best publication in basic immunology in 2022.
