The future of science begins with today's girls

Today, 11 February, the Hospital del Mar Research Institute joins the celebration of the International Day of Women and Girls in Science, a key date to recognize the fundamental role of women in research and to continue moving towards a more just, diverse, and inclusive science.

Despite the progress made, women remain underrepresented in science worldwide: less than one third of all researchers are women.

At the Hospital del Mar Research Institute, every day we help advance science, medicine, and health. We are professionals from many different fields who research, care, create, and transform to expand knowledge and improve people's lives. Nearly half of the Institute’s researchers are women, a figure that reflects the institution's commitment to equal opportunities. Even so, we are aware that there is still a long way to go to achieve true equity at all levels of the scientific career.

Science needs all perspectives, all voices, and all talent. That is why today we raise our voices.

Because the world needs science, and science needs all of us.
