The Hospital del Mar Research Institute renews the TECNIO accreditation

The BAPP, a joint center between the Hospital del Mar Research Institute and Pompeu Fabra University, will maintain this quality seal from the Government of Catalonia until 2028. This recognition highlights its scientific and technical excellence, as well as its capacity for knowledge and technology transfer to the industry.

The BioAnalysis, Proteomics and Pharmacology Center (BAPP), part of the Hospital del Mar Research Institute and Pompeu Fabra University, has renewed its TECNIO accreditation, awarded by the Government of Catalonia through ACCIÓ. This accreditation, valid until 2028, identifies and gives visibility to highly capable scientific and technical centers, recognized as developers of cutting-edge technologies and leaders in technology and knowledge transfer to the industry.

The BAPP, led by Dr. Òscar Pozo, first obtained this accreditation in 2016. It is a multidisciplinary center specializing in R&D&I activities in the fields of pharmacology, neurosciences, peptide chemistry, and bioanalysis. Its research focuses on the development of new drugs for human and veterinary use, as well as on biomarkers for various diseases. It consists of five research groups and two service platforms.

The center also offers a wide range of technological capabilities that can be transferred to the business sector, either on a case-by-case basis or through joint research projects. To achieve this, it has the MARmetabolomics platform, the Clinical Research Unit, and the Peptide Synthesis Service.

The requirements for obtaining the accreditation take into account excellence in research and technology, as well as business, management, and commercial aspects.
