14/07/2022 - General information
After the success of "La mare de la ciència", the PRBB's science outreach podcast in Catalan, June saw the launch of "Absolutos y Relativos", the second science outreach podcast from the PRBB, which this time will be in Spanish.
On 14 July, Patricia Robledo, a researcher from the Integrated Pharmacology and Systems Neuroscience research group at the IMIM, explains the neuroscience and drug studies she is carrying out, and talks about her research career, which is closely linked to psychology.
This audio series consists of six 30-minute interviews conducted by science journalist Luca Tancredi Barone. In a very natural and engaging way, Luca creates an atmosphere in which research staff from the Park's centres explain their work and share their perspectives on a scientific career.
And this vision is precisely what "Absolutos y Relativos" focuses on. By discovering the people behind the scientific projects and finding out what their careers have been like up to this point, and how they deal with well-known aspects of scientific life.
This first season of " Absolutos y Relativos" features six researchers from the different centres within the Park who help us to get to know some areas of biomedicine and understand the distinct stages of a scientific career. A fresh and up-close look at the people who, with their concerns and careers, dedicate themselves to pursuing science with passion.
16 June: Pepi Cruz, a postdoctoral researcher in the Evolution And Developmental Biology group at the Institute of Evolutionary Biology (IBE: CSIC-UPF) talks about her studies on Drosophila and her passion for insects.
23 June: Lorenzo Pasquali, principal investigator of the Endocrine Regulatory Genomics group in the Department of Medicine and Life Sciences, at Pompeu Fabra University (MELIS-UPF) explains how they study the genomic regulation of diabetes, and talks about the transition from medicine to research.
30 June: Queralt Tolosa, a doctoral student in the Cell and Tissue Dynamics Laboratory at the Centre for Genomic Regulation (CRG) talks about how biology and physics are combined in the study of embryonic development using zebrafish as an animal model, as well as what it is like to do a PhD.
7 July: Jarek Sochacki, an iPSC specialist at the European Molecular Biology Laboratory - Barcelona (EMBL Barcelona) talks about his work reprogramming cells, making them pluripotent, as well as studies using cells from different species.
14 July: Patricia Robledo, the principal investigator in Integrated Pharmacology and Systems Neuroscience research group at the Hospital de Mar Medical Research Institute (IMIM) explains her neuroscience and pharmacology studies and also gives us an insight into her research career which is closely linked to psychology.
21 July: Dídac Macià, postdoctoral data analyst at the Barcelona Institute for Global Health (ISGlobal) and a lecturer at the University of Barcelona, talks about his work combining data analysis, physics and mathematics to solve biological questions.
You can find the episodes on Spotify, Apple Podcast, Google Podcast, Spreaker, Deezer and Ivoox. We invite you to listen to them and share them!
