Description:

The selected person will join the GPCR Drug Discovery research group (Biomedical informatics research program).

Task:

Development of a Pipeline for Optimizing Ligand Affinities by Displacing Unfavorable Waters. 1. Perform molecular dynamics (MD) simulations of GPCR–ligand complexes 2. Develop a Python-based framework to analyze MD simulations and identify water molecules in binding sites 3. Characterize the thermodynamic "happiness" of individual water molecules based on structural and energetic criteria 4. Optimize ligands to strategically displace unfavorable (unhappy) water molecules and improve binding affinity

Formation:

Degree in Biomedical Sciences or equivalent qualification.

Experience:

1. Proven experience in data analysis 2. Strong interdisciplinary mindset and ability to apply computational tools to biomedical research 3. Excellent communication skills in English, both written and spoken

Knowledge:

1. Proficiency in Python, R, and Bash programming languages 2. Academic training in structural biology, computer-assisted drug design, and molecular dynamics simulations 3. Knowledge of MD simulation software (GROMACS and NAMD) and structure visualization tools (VMD, Chimera)
