Project title:

Deciphering de novo gene birth in populations (101052538)

Description:

The selected person will join the Evolutionary genomics research group (Biomedical informatics research program).

Task:

Development of computer programs for massive data analysis of transcriptomics (RNAseq) and translatomics (Riboseq). Prediction of translated sequences in unannotated transcripts through the analysis in the periodicity of the Ribo-Seq sequencies. Use of the statistical package R to carry out statistical and graphical analyses. Preparation of reports and manuscripts. Preparation of presentations and posters for seminars and congresses.

Formation:

Degree in Genetics or similar.

Experience:

Proven practical experience in the data analysis of transcriptomics. Experience in access to public sequencing data. Experience in the manipulation of transcriptomic data (RNA-Seq), including the reconstruction of non-annotated transcripts from RNA-Seq data. Experience in Unix/Linux systems and computing clusters (HPC).

Knowledge:

Advanced programming in Python and R. Knowledge of the software used to identify variants from the data of RNA-Seq.

A stage in a foreigner university will be an asset.This contract is part of a project that has received funding from the European Union’s Horizon 2020 research and innovation programme under grant agreement Nº 101052538.
