Around forty professionals from Hospital del Mar and the Hospital del Mar Research Institute make it into Stanford University’s World’s Top 2% Scientist ranking

The new edition of this prestigious list includes 38 professionals currently or formerly affiliated with the centre and its research institute.

Nearly forty researchers from Hospital del Mar and the Hospital del Mar Research Institute appear in the World's Top 2% Scientist ranking, which features the most influential scientists in the world. This list, compiled by Stanford University, identifies the most cited researchers across various disciplines. It is divided into 22 fields of knowledge and 174 subfields, and includes 100,000 people - representing the top 2% of the world's eight million active scientists.

In total, Hospital del Mar and its research institute have 38 names featured in the two lists that make up the ranking. One considers the entirety of each scientist's career, while the other focuses only on citation data from scientific journals in recent years.

Among those listed are current and former professionals from both institutions, including Mar Albà, Joan Albanell, Jordi Alonso, Francisco Álvarez Lerma, Joaquín Arribas, Joaquim Bellmunt, and Esther Barreiro. Also featured are Francesc Colom, Maria Isabel Covas, Rafael de la Torre, Adolfo Díez Pérez, Roberto Elosua, Montse Ferrer, Montse Fitó and Antonio García de Herreros.

Other highly cited scientists include Joaquim Gea, Ana María Giménez-Arnau, Luis Grande, Juan Pablo Horcajada, Benedetto Ielpo, and Camile Lassale. The list also features Jaume Marrugat, Jordi Mestres, Jordi Peña-Casanova, Manuel Pera, Luis Pérez Jurado, Jesús A. Pozo, Óscar Pozo, Jesús Pujol, and Ramon Pujol, as well as Miquel Porta, Jaume Roquer, Aleix Sala-Vila, Helmut Schröder, Jordi Segura, Antoni Sitges-Serra, Marc Suárez-Calvet, Marta Torrens, Gemma Vilagut and Pablo Villoslada.
