OPEN PRBB 2023: On Saturday, October 7, we open the doors again to everyone

On October 7 from 10:00 to 14:30 h comes a new edition of the Open Day of the Barcelona Biomedical Research Park (PRBB) in which researchers will explain firsthand what they do, how they do it and where they do it. The different research centers that are part of the PRBB will offer a wide range of free activities for the whole family.

On Saturday morning, children over 12 years old will be able to learn about science from its protagonists with guided tours. From 10:00 to 13:30h we have prepared several routes that will simultaneously tour the building and visit different laboratories. In the case of the Hospital del Mar Research Institute you will be able to visit the Bioinformatics Unit, the laboratoris of stem cell and cancer, immune redirection, applied metabolomics and evolutionary genomics where each of them will explain what their work consists of and the research they are currently doing.

This year at 11:00, 12:00 and 12:30 there will be tours in English and at 12:30 there will be a special tour for families with children 9-12 years old. It will not be possible to enter the laboratories, but you will be able to visit the inside of the building.

The Hospital del Mar Research Institute is once again organizing the workshop "Measure your cardiovascular health", which will calculate your risk of suffering from coronary heart disease in the next 10 years and what you can do to prevent it. It will also participate in the organization of the workshop entitled "Discover the Animal House", which will explain how research is done with animal models and in which facilities they live? We propose that visitors become researchers and take a fictitious tour of a Research Animal Facility.

Finally Lilian Marie Boll, researcher of the Evolutionary Genomics Research Group will participate in one of the scientific talks organized and entitled "Guardians of the immune city: Unmasking tumor intruders" where she will explain the basics of immunotherapy in cancer and how we use computer programs to explain them.

Mothers and fathers who want to visit the building and come accompanied with children between 6 and 12 years old, will have at their disposal the espai menut, where children can enjoy games and activities.
