She will hold the position for two years and will be responsible for reviewing and supervising the evaluation processes of each call within her field at the agency.
Dr. Esther Barreiro, an associate physician in the Pulmonology Service at Hospital del Mar and a researcher at its research institute, has been appointed as the coordinator in the field of medical and health sciences at the Agency for the Management of University and Research Grants (AGAUR). Her appointment was made by the Director General of Research of the Generalitat, Joan Gómez Pallarès, upon the proposal of the agency itself. Selected individuals are required to ensure compliance with scientific quality standards and possess the necessary knowledge of the system to perform this role, having participated in evaluation processes at an international organization.
Dr. Barreiro will hold the position for two years, extendable to five, and replaces another professional from Hospital del Mar, Dr. Clara Montagut. Her responsibilities will include reviewing and supervising the specific evaluation processes of each grant call, resolving potential discrepancies in evaluations, assessing evaluators, suggesting improvements, and reviewing the pre-procedure in response to appeals.
